Letter to all parents November 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the final four weeks of the term, I want to take a moment to highlight the importance of consistent school attendance for our students during this crucial time. These next few weeks are essential for academic progress and setting the foundation for a strong continuation to the year.

Last year, whole school attendance dipped by 1% in the final 4 weeks of the Autumn term. Please see the graph below showing this. It is essential that we do not see this again and I need your support in ensuring we buck the trend. The blue line is last year, the pink line is this year. We must ensure we stay above the blue line and avoid the drop at the end of term.

We understand that life can be unpredictable and that occasional absences are inevitable. Similarly, we are aware we are approaching the winter months and illnesses do rise as the weather gets colder. However, we encourage families to prioritise school attendance wherever possible. Every school day counts, as students will be engaging in key lessons, activities, and assessments that will help them finish the term strong. Regular attendance helps ensure that students remain engaged, retain what they are learning, and stay on track with their academic goals. Please refer to this NHS guidance regarding illnesses and school attendance. Is my child too ill for school? - NHS

In addition to the academic benefits, consistent attendance fosters social development, giving students opportunities to work with peers, participate in group activities, and strengthen relationships with teachers. If your child is experiencing any challenges that may affect their attendance, please don't hesitate to contact school. We are here to support families and ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Thank you for your continued support in making sure our students are present, prepared, and ready to finish the calendar year with success. Together, we can help them reach their full potential.

Yours faithfully,

Mr M Taylor
