06 December 2024
Dear Parent/Guardian,
As part of your child’s extended curriculum, students are required to have an understanding of different religious beliefs and practices. In Year 7 we take the whole year group to one of our local churches so they can experience being inside a religious building, learn key Christian beliefs about Christmas and to understand the link between ourselves and our community. The visit will take place in the afternoon of Wednesday 18th of December 2024.
During the visit pupils will be taking part in some indirect supervised activities. As always when teaching pupils in school, teachers will use their skills and experience to do everything reasonably practicable to ensure the safety of their party. Pupils will also be briefed before the trip on how to stay safe and secure. The students will leave after their lunch break and be expected to behave in a way which positively represents our school at all times. We will be walking to and from the church but Christmas jumpers can be put on when we leave school.
The service will feature religious and non religious music and readings but our aim is to provide a taste of Christian Christmas rather than promote any particular set of beliefs. The focus this year is bringing light to darkness. Students will return to school for 14:30. If you have any comments or queries please direct them to myself:
