4 April 2025
Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to inform you that next term our school may be affected by industrial action.
As you may be aware we are currently consulting on the new school day. During these consultations, teaching unions have raised concerns over the potential associated workload linked to this extended day, and we continue to seek ways to resolve these concerns. However, one of the teaching unions, NASUWT, has also raised concerns regarding the current levels of workload of its members and has confirmed that, following a ballot, these colleagues will take strike action next term.
The initial strike action will take place on Thursday 24th April with additional strike action planned for Wednesday 30th April 2025 and Thursday 1st May 2025.
We acknowledge the right of union members to take industrial action. We are committed to finding a way forward that addresses the points raised by employees.
We will make plans for the announced strike day(s) and communicate these to you as soon as they are finalised. We will do all that we can to minimise disruption to pupils' education, but with a majority of members taking action, some disruption will be unavoidable.
Once we have a clearer picture of the full implications, we will write to you again with further information.
The purpose of this letter is to give you early notification of the potential for disruption.
I wish to give you my commitment as Principal to doing all that I can to seek a resolution to this action as quickly as possible.
Yours faithfully
J Norman
Principal
